The cast members vary in skill and style. The heroes and villains known from Rayman 2: The Great Escape return to Rayman Arena, in addition to the title character, they also include Globox, Tinies, Razorbeard, Razorwife and Tily.
The key to success in the last of the above-mentioned modes is the use of power-ups scattered on the boards, which can both increase the capabilities of the selected character and be used to set traps for opponents. The first is a classic race, the second is a battle where players fight each other. The title allows for several forms of competition between users on a split screen.
Rayman Arena (or Rayman M) is a spin-off of a series of popular platformers, as well as the first production in the series that focuses on multiplayer gameplay.
